Inspire Preschool

Outdoor Learning

Our outdoor learning environment combines traditional equipment with a vast array of natural materials. We have a small hill for sledding in the winter, a tree for climbing, an old canoe that inspires imaginative journeys and adventures, a music wall made from kitchen pots ‘n pans where children love singing and banging, wheelbarrows to haul things in, stick horses to ride, gnomes to play with, and a mud kitchen that allows for “inspired” concoctions. In addition, we have a large sandbox, a split log natural balance beam, a hollowed out tree stump and many nature “toys” used in sculpting and decorating (sea shells, rocks, sticks, tree cookies, pinecones). Studying Andy Goldsworthy’s incredible photo books provides the inspiration for our children to create their own designs using the natural materials found on our playground.
